Q. What is The Bookstore?
A. The SCMO Bookstore is a collaborative effort between Southern California Marlin Online and Amazon.com, the online bookstore. The staff at SCMO selects the titles to offer to our visitors, and Amazon.com allows us to use their secure ordering and shipping system. This gives our visitors the benefit of both SCMO's knowledge of offshore fishing and Amazon.com's experience with online sales.
Q. How do I use The Bookstore?
A. First, browse the list of titles provided in the Bookstore. Clicking on the link for a specific title will take you to the item's detail page in the Amazon.com online catalog, where you can select the book for purchase by pressing the "Add it to your Shopping Cart" button. You can complete your order immediately by following the "Buy Items Now" link at the bottom of the page, or you can return to the Bookstore to select more books. Once you begin to finalize an order, the Amazon.com ordering software takes over, running on their server and using the same software used by their customers. From this point forward, you'll get complete customer service directly from Amazon.com. It's that easy!!
Q. Is it safe to order through The Bookstore?
A. The Amazon.com checkout system uses secure transmission technology and your credit card is absolutely safe. the system is used literally millions of times a day with complete confidance by book buyers around the world. As an aside, it is worth noting that there has never been a confirmed case of a credit card being intercepted during any internet transaction.
Q. How does my order help SCMO?
A. SCMO receives 10 to 15 percent of every order placed through the Bookstore. That's not a lot, but it helps defray the costs associated with maintaining this site. We are committed to providing you with the best offshore fishing site on the internet, without resorting to the admission charging or blatant advertising found elsewhere. The Bookstore is one way for us to raise funds while meeting those goals. One important note - SCMO only receives a commission on those books listed at our site, not on any you might find by searching Amazon.com while you are there. This does not prevent you from buying those other titles, but we'd appreciate it if you could let us know so we can add them to our catalog.
Q. Is there any fine print or disclaimers?
A. Naturally ... :-) SCMO is solely responsible for selecting the titles presented for sale, and Amazon.com is solely responsible for providing the ordering and shipping services. Prices noted in the Bookstore are for reference only, and the price listed on the individual title pages of the Amazon.com site are the ones that will be charged. And, of course, both SCMO and Amazon.com reserve the right to discontinue offering any title at any time.
