Hi There,

My boyfriend and his buddy were talking about some Marlin luers that chirp under water. I guess they operate with a battery. Can anyone tell me who makes them or where to find em? Or even what their called. Thanks so much!!

Stan's comments   I think what they were talking about were Electronic Acoustic Lures, better knows as EALs, made by Pure Fishing. They're available at pretty much any tackle store that carries marlin lures.

I am looking for a friend of my fathers who used to/still is a big part of the SoCal Marlin world. His name is/was (?) Brooks Morris from Laguna Niguel. Can anyone tell me anything about how I can get a hold of Brooks? Respectfully, Scott

Wonderful site you've put together here. I stumbled across it while doing some research on the catalina classic comming up this weekend. As a relocated south florida fishead not familiar yet with the local socal deal this site is stacked with great info, and just plain funny as shit sometimes!

thanks

mark

Why do you tag marlin, I have just release them over the years and don"t believe in tagging. Why give the longliners and commercial international fishing fleet any more information on this fishery. Why am I wrong in my feeling on this matter. Tagging is wrong! Releasing is right! I made a tagging stick many years ago . Still have it and the tags but I will not tag on this strong feeling about this fishery and how it has been exploited by other countries. Just an opinion--I have enjoyed SCMO very much.

You guys sound like very passionate anglers! This is a great site. I'm not registered, so couldn't answer some of your comments in the forums, but I hope you're all BlueWater Boats & Sportsfishing readers! It's full of all the stuff you're talking about.
Smithy, you sound like a passionate bloke - and a local. Keep up the good work, mate.

Can anyone please tell me why I found about 100 books by Charles O. Mather at my local dump in southern Ontario. I found them individually boxed and in their own hard sleeves, signed and numbered. I didn't know what to make of it at the time and I took just one copy home #61. 2-3 weeks later I discovered what I had and rushed back to the dump, I was too late, there was no sign of the books. Perhaps some one else took them or maybe they got bulldozed there is no way of knowing. But there's more to this story. As I was looking around for the books I found the (original?) 7 Ned Smith lithographs from the book, all of them are nicely mounted and in perfect shape. Now, how did an entire shipment of signed, numbered books and matching lithographs end up in a country dump. Does Mather have relatives in Ontario? Were these items stolen? I would appreciate any information/interest on my mystery. Thank You.

Way too much info for any man to put to the test. There must be at least 200 years of experience tied up in your members. Thanks for sharing. It certainly cuts out some of the time and cost of learning it all by yourself.
