RE: null point
it's also very hard to explain, that the water was a particular colour,
the way the birds were flying around, that information gathered from other vessels the previous day,the SST chart you downloaded last night, the marks you had on your plotter from previous strikes, the fact that it was the tide change, that seal you saw behaving oddly, the bait school that you have been doing laps over for an hour, that boat you saw hook up nearby , that arch mark on the sounder at twenty fathoms....
holy ##### on the left !!!!:P
man lets go marlin fishing !!!!!:7 :7 :7

RE: Which Boat/Engines raises fish best?
Aloha Rog
Any boat will raise wahoo. They have got to be the easiest fish in the ocean to raise.
When swimming I see them meander by, they don't cruise fast like tuna. Their comfort zone is about 40 feet, but if you look away,,,if you look at them they spook easy,,,,auh/ look away and flap yer hand creating a different turbulence, they will come closer. I tried different throat noises like when calling yft but it doesn't work on wahoo,,the hand turbalance while slowly sinking does. Makes me think they use their lat line to detect boats and come to investigate. Tuna seem to be scared allot of times by the boat, ya gotta trick them buggers. Wahoo will bite the stern off an outboard
Nobody mentioned the bottom paint. I'm thinking of going with pink and yellow with black triangles here and there, lol

Funny you should say that - I remember seeing a photo of a boat in a lift and it had silhouettes of fish painted on the light-colored hull in black ! I was never sure if the owner really believed, or was having a laugh.
Can't do any harm, anyway ( unless, that is. something VERY BIG with LOTS OF very sharp teeth decides to bite yer hull! lol! )
I know sharks are often noted for biting props on outboards. I wonder if any billfish try striking props
By the way, still got both your hands ? "Ouch !"

RE: Which Boat/Engines raises fish best?
One of the fun things about this never ending debate is trying out the new ones to see and over the years I've tried my share. Of course, most of them have been Bertrams due to some strange twist of fate in the past that somehow put me in the position to own and fish more of them than any other make. That said, I'd have to say that I've done well on all of them from my first 28 to the many 31s I've fished and my current 35 is a killer when I have had time to use her. The tourney boats including the wonderful 51 is a standout and won us one in 04 and was a stand-out in the hurricane shortened 05 GOM season.
This year I'll get to enjoy the argument again on the new Bodacious 2 which was delivered last Friday to it's proud new owners and members of the team I've fished with for the last several years. I can't wait to see what it does and am happy to report it won one of the TX tourneys it entered this year as a Texas demo for Marine Max!
What do you guys think of this one?
