Default RE: New Cabo Kill Tourney - Hard To Believe in 2008!

In an echange of e-mails with Harvey Hunnicutt I was informed that the format was changed several weeks ago due to the reasons stated in the topics above. Here I have pasted his reply to me, and my reply back. Maybe it was bad planning on thier part, or just not thinking things through that started this thing out as a kill tournament for Stripers. I would like to see this be a total release tournament for all billfish, but considering the time of year that is likely to be the situation anyway, doubtful there will be any big Blues or Blacks at that time.

We received a similar email here at the Home Office. If they corrected their judgement errors in tourney format, no matter what prompted them to do so, then something good has happened. Personally, I'd like to see all the marlin events down there go all-release, but I understand that is an uphill fight against many years of tradition. Doesn't mean we'll stop trying, though ...

One point I think Harvey missed is demonstrated by his comparison chart of the various events. The ire demonstrated against his event wasn't because it was out of line with the other events - it isn't; rather, it was because in 2008, there's no excuse for a new event to be in line with the other events. WCBRT demonstrated that you can have a successful, profitable marlin tournament in which no marlin come to the dock - that's the format any new event should model, and what we will compare (favorably or otherwise) any new tournament against.
