New Albacore Info

I fished today (6-23-00) on a 20 ft skiff. Left D.P. @ 0530, wind 5 kt from S.E.. Started @ 43. Sportfisher "RISING SUN" called us in on some numbers 7 miles south. 32.30.456, 117.57.966. Same story you all know, single and double on bright colored jigs and on blue DRONE spoons. It's the first time I tried these,; they work. I used a 12 oz torpedo 3 ft in front of the lure as recomended. Another hot ticket was to use the channel island chovie colored worm king on the slide. Last but not least, I hooked an unknowned sized tuna that dumped my Shimano TLD 30 II speed. I have 50 pound line and 17 pounds of drag at strike. When the spool was almost empty, I went beyond strike and turned the fish but probally tore a big hole because it came unbuttoned 5 minutes later. Maybe a bigeye.
