Default Big Eye

Some of the best fishing I can remember last weekend, at least for Tuna, and horrible weather conditions. Yellowfin turned into Albacore at about 6:00 AM, and then the Albacore turned into Big Eye. I hooked-up first on a 20lb tuna outfit and proceeded to tour the boat for almost two hours until at about a foot out of reach of the gaff, the line parted- just rubbed itself apart. My son Brett got one simultaniously on 30, and got him to gaff after 1hr 40min (72 lb). Brett was beat, but he stuck it out in 8 foot swell with 25-30 knots on top. Hard to stand up much less land a fish. We landed 4 from 70-80 lbs. Mine weighed in at 76lb. Area of fish is about 75 miles from San Diego on a 170*. 31.28 /117.11

Default RE: Big Eye

We heard you guys coming uphill to bring them to Avalon for the Tuna Club. If you have any pictures, we'd love to post them over in our Galeria (http://www.marlinnut.com/gallery.html)

You cannot be a sportsman and not care about the fish. You can be a fisherman, but not a sportsman, and no self-respecting angler should settle for being just a fisherman.
