No - he was just pointing out that no one caught any marlin to speak of in SoCal this year, so there weren't really any successful lures.

Wazzup with no marlin in So Cal this year. Hopefully next year you guys will have plenty of marlin to make up. I remember about 4 years ago there was a terrible fishing year here in El Salvador. Happy new Years to everyone. I wish you lots of marlin....

So.Cal gets the marlin when El Nino conditions exist... when waters stay cool like it was the case this year marlin don't travel up... that is why many of our friends there travel South to Cabo San Lucas to find the fish.

Paco, JC: what happens in your area when the El Nino and La Nina conditions happen? Does it have a big effect on your fishing? Paco it seems you're able to find blue marlin every year regardless whether it's an El Nino or not!

JC one of my favourite lures is the tube you lent me some years ago!

Hi guys,

Three lures? Regular producers? Hmmm... not difficult, not difficult at all.

My choices running from a 35 footer, two inboard motors

SC 3rd wave- stinger wave 2, black and green. All weather lure, performs as well on deadly flat as with white caps everywhere. Long dive time, moderate deep diver, performs with a little lateral movement during the immersion, beautiful explosion when she surfaces. I use it on the rigger for an issue of perfect tuning. Pure magic lure.

LC 4th wave- Pakula Smoking Jo in blue angel- not exciting, same monotonous dive, pop and of course, a typical chugger straight course. But this pretty skirted baby gets every fish that get interested on her. Don't need to keep an eye on it. One bite, one hookup. And that is enough excitment for me. And yes, needs tunning from the rigger to run in everyweather condictions.

SG 8th wave- BB superprojet- a little devil that I run in black/pink colours. I like to run it in heavy leader (530#), this is the way it shines. Small popping intervals (pop, pop, pop, sometimes 10 or more successive poppings ) followed by loooong dives. Not in the books, but thats how it produces for me. Best performer in long swell and no wind, works also very well in flat. Windy? Take it out.

Happy New Year for my friends in SCMO,

Carlos Gloria

Dustin, yes it has a big effect... El Nino conditions mean hot waters and slow action.
When La Nina occurs we get somewhat cooler waters and much better action. This year has been great we've even had reports of a few stripeys which is rare for us.

We do have blues all year round, I've scored blues in every single month of the year no matter if there is La Nina or El Nino but we jsut get better numbers on La Nina conditions I think because fish don't travel far north, they concentrate in a smaller area.
