Smile Re: Build Your Own Troll Pro

Hi Folks, I just joined in, as I am interested in what you have constructed, it looks great. I am about to do a fishing trip for a couple of weeks and about to buy a GoPro Black to get some underwater action. Just wondering if there are any improvements on the design to keep it running smooth underwater?

Thanks in anticipation.

Nick

I followed this thread as a model, and kind of had to go my own way once I couldn't get the 2"x4" reducer. I think I had a 3"x4", so it's almost identical. I finished it and let my daughter paint it, and flew it to Isla the next day. We dropped it in and dialed it in pulling it separate from the dredge with a big trolling weight. I don't remember how big. I would suggest if possible to pull it from the rigger getting it out of the turbulence as much as possible or at least on the edge.

I had fun with it, and still have about 20 hours of video to go through. It's funny how it shows us missing a knockdown and then taking the bait away from a pursuing sail. Fishing was dead during this trip, so we weren't expecting anything.

Here is what I put together.

I built one last year, and it has been a constant work in progress, it Spins too much, I put fins on it, but i beleive it is because of the side hole. I am going to cover it in tape tommorow when i go out.

ANy thoughts?

The good doctor just gave me one for my birthday -- the "reel" deal, not a home brew (I like my home brew to be hoppy and sudsy). It even came with a 32oz trolling weight. The trolling weight might get rigged for real use, not taking pictures...

This might be a sign that she doesn't much care for the GoPro I got her for Christmas...
