Default newbee

Hi guys, glad to have found this site.I'm from south africa and a newbee to boat fishing.i recently bought a 23 ft center consol boat and spent 2 weeks fishing in mozambique;caught a 40kg yellowfin tuna,23kg couta and lots of smaller kingfish.dropped 7 sailfish using ballyhoo as bait.did not know about leader lengths(mine were about 50 cm long).I'm trying to learn as much as i can in preperation for my next trip to the coast.Maybe i will also be able to impart some of the knowledge gained from u guys onto the next fisherman one day.Thanks. oops, just realised that i posted in the wrong forum;could admin please move this post to the appropriate one.

A 23kg couta! That's a hell of a nice fish!! Back when I fished a bit in Indonesia that was the one we all wanted, the best one I ever saw was only 24kg though. I'll never forget that long silver-blue shape cruising in the water when the fish was near the boat! There must be some absolute whoppers off Mozz and your east coast!

Let us know how you're doing, you won't be a newbee for long fishing in a fishery like that!
