Default Sound Re-Visited

Has anyone seen the Military channel on Subs ? The subs don't have any windows and operate by sound and sound alone in complete darkness months at a time.
They say the mix layer completely stops the sound like a wall. This information applied towards fishing can be beneficial in so many ways. This is the kind of thinking that makes the difference in the few that catch fish and the many who do not.
