From the start, the Marlin Club has been one of the defining features of SCMO. It's brought together some of the best marlin fishermen and tackle innovators, and given the average angler the chance to learn from the best. With nearly 40,000 messages posted over the last ten years, it's an incredible knowledgebase of offshore fishing information.

Since 2000, we've used software that has allowed us to maintain all of the messages in a single application. But those first few years of the Marlin Club were lost to history - or so we thought. Recently, the Home Office staff was able to painstakingly recreate some of the archives of the earliest iterations of the Marlin Club. They represent a series of snapshots of the MC at different points in time, complete with the messages that existed on the board at the time. The archives are presented in their original format, giving you a true look at the earliest days of SCMO - and making for some amazing reading.

What a long, strange trip it's been.

Recreating these archives was a significant challenge, but an enjoyable trip to the past. SCMO would like to thank the two entities without which these archives wouldn't exist - the Internet Archive Wayback Machine and Red Bull.
