07/06/2006: "Deceptive Husbands? Now There's Reality ..."

I have to confess ... Kathy Griffin is my guilty pleasure. She's funny, she's smart, she's snarky, she's redheaded ... she's me with bigger breasts. I love her comedy specials on Bravo, and I especially love her show "My Life on the D-List" ... it's the only reality show I'll admit to watching.

It was a little weird when the second season started filming just about the same time as tabloid rumors started about her divorcing her husband, Matt Moline. It was even stranger when Matt was still on the show - as her husband. A couple of articles have blown their cover - he's basically pretending to still be the husband for the sake of the show - and now the real truth is out. According to an as-yet-unaired segment shot for CNN's Larry King, she caught Matt dipping into the till.

"My ex-husband, without my knowledge, was sneaking into my wallet when I was asleep in the mornings and taking my ATM cards from my private accounts and withdrawing money . . . That money totalled $72,000."

It's really sad. They seemed to mesh well as a ying-yang kind of a couple, and Matt seemed like a genuinely nice, if wimpish, guy. I guess you never know.
