10/11/2006: "They Needed a Scientist to Tell Us This??"
Men hate to admit it, but we're basically animals. Yesh, we've gone through that whole evolution thing, and we like to think that the instincts of our ancestors are behind us, but when it really comes down to it, we'd just as soon club women over the head and drag them off by the hair just like the first cavemen.
Women, of course, love to give us nothing but grief for this fact. After all, they are really the ones who've grown and matured as a species over the millenia. Or have they ...
Not according to a new study from UCLA that says women change their behavior based on their fertility cycles. Photographs taken of women showed that they frequently wore more fashionable or flashier clothing and jewelry when they were ovulating.
"They tend to put on skirts instead of pants, show more skin and generally dress more fashionably," said Martie Haselton, a communication studies and psychology expert at the University of California Los Angeles who led the study.
Writing in the journal Hormones and Behavior, Haselton and colleagues said their findings disproved the conventional wisdom that women are unique among animals in concealing, even from themselves, when they are most fertile.
They didn't need a scientific study to prove this ... all they needed to do was poll a group of single guys at closing time.
