12/14/2006: "End Of The Pathfinder ... Finally ..."

Today marks the end of the pathfinder effort on my software project. For the last two weeks, we've been in the factory working with a group of real users in a real environment. We asked for feedback, and boy - did we get it! I guess it's like any kind of focus groups - you want and need feedback on the product, but it can require pretty thick skin sometimes to take the beatings they hand out. On the bright side, we haven't had any failures severe enough to end the pathfinder. We've definitely had our share of stumbles, though, and some have been pretty embarassing. The bottom line, though, is that the issues that were raised needed to come out, and now we can focus on fixing them. It'll take a while for my pride to heal, though ...
