05/02/2007: "Admin Note Re: Comments"
I'm starting to hear rumblings, both via email and posts over in the Marlin Club, that some users are having trouble posting comments to the MarlinBlog. Lord knows, I get few enough interested posters that I don't want to chase any off!
Here's how the comments posting should work:
1) You see a posting you want to make a comment against, and select the "Add a Comment" link at the end of the posting. Note that the link reads "X Comments" if any comments have already been posted.
2) You are taken to the page for that entry, and presented a comments entry form.
3) You enter your details and comment, and select either "Post" or "Preview"
4) If you select "Preview" you see how your comment will look, and have to option to post or go back and edit your comments.
5) If you select "Post", either from the main screen or the preview screen, you are asked to enter a secret phrase ("MarlinBlog") as an anti-spam feature, and select "Post Comment".
6) You are returned to the blog entry page, and your comment should show.
If you have any kind of error during this process, I want to hear about. If you can provide the following, it will be very helpful:
- The operating system you are using (MacOS 10.4, Windows XP, etc).
- The browser you are using (Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc).
- The point in the process where you got the error.
- The exact wording of the error.
That will let me troubleshoot the problem!
