05/11/2007: "Weekend Eye Candy - Firefighter Salute Edition"
It's been a pretty tough week for the residents of several sections of Los Angeles County, as high heat and low humidity combined to create tinderbox-like conditions. Even with the Red Flag warnings, two major fires broke out in Griffith Park and on Catalina Island. That no one was killed and so little property damaged might seem miraculous, but it was really due to the skill and bravery of the men and women who continue to fight those fires.
Here at the MarlinBlog, the staff is a little sleepy after a late night of fire coverage - but it's nothing compared to how the people on the fire line are feeling. So today, we salute them the best way we know how - with the Weekend Eye Candy! I'm quite sure who this is ... either she's the interim Los Angeles City Fire Department, or a Vegas stripper just getting off work. Either way, she serves to remind us how important it is to stop and thank your local firefighter. Bring them some cookies, and maybe a business card for your therapist. After all, when we're all running out of the burning buildings, they're running in.
And God bless them for doing so ...
