05/16/2007: "Happy Birthday MB!"
It's hard for me to imagine, but it was one year ago today that we fired up the MarlinBlog for the first time (Don't believe me? See for yourself here!). What a ride it's been, too. My goal was to have at least an entry a day, and while there's been a missed day or two along the way, I still managed 372 entries in the first 365 days.
We've picked up a few fans during the year - and hello to all three of you - and we've even been linked to by other blogs periodically. That was never more true than during our coverage of the recent Avalon fire, which brought more traffic to the blog than any other entry. Anytime someone chooses to reference anything said here, I'm honored. And I can tell from the access logs that we're getting a lot of traffic from search engines, which means we're talking about what people are interested in!
I said this would be an eclectic collection of entries, and I think I've succeeded there. There's been a little bit of gossip, a little politics, a little current events both in my life and elsewhere. Above all, though, I've tried to be honest and interesting - I hope I've achieved both.
We've stumbled at times (like initially putting the MB in the Members' Section) and succeeded at others (like inventing the Weekend Eye Candy). Hopefully, we've become a regular part of the reading habits of a few of you, and we're gonna work hard to get to the rest of you!
Anniversaries being what they are, I'd be remiss if I didn't take an opportunity to invite you to provide feedback on how we've done, and what you think we should do in the future - all suggestions gratefully accepted!
