05/24/2007: "Gotcha!"

Here's your breaking news for the day. You remember Reggie the Alligator, the Menace of Lake Machado? Well, I'm happy to report his days patrolling the lake in Harbor Park have come to an end. About an hour ago, he was spotted wandering around on shore in a mudflat along side the lake, so the city sent a group of brave but inexperience gator wranglers after him. It took six men and a roll of duct tape, but he was subdued and is now on his way to the LA Zoo.

There will be those who will say he should have been left in the lake, since he hadn't hurt anyone and had shown no signs of agression. But you just know that inevitably, there would have been an unhappy ending for someone - a local resident or Reggie. At least now we know he's gonna get three squares ... :-)
