06/14/2007: "Return Of The Two-Headed Monster"
For those of you who weren't paying attention, or aren't MNAC members (to which I say, "and why not???"), Monday marked the first update to the 2007 SCMO Fishing News. That means I now have two mouths to feed, creativity-wise - the MB and the FN. You might see fewer posts over here, but rest assured that the overall WPW (words per week) should remain steady.
Last year was the first time I had to support the two entities simultaneously, and sometimes it was a challenge to decide what belonged where. The Fishing News had always has a certain snarkiness about it, most of which moved over the the MarlinBlog - along with all of the extended family! But there were those who found the FN to be lacking once it was stripped of all the content that came over here - it seemed sterile, too much like reading the fishing counts in the newspaper. So one of my goals for this season is to return the richness that made the Fishing News must-read for so many of our visitors.
To see if I can get it right, let's take a look at a couple of potential news items and see which of our sections they belong in:
A hot tuna bite erupts off of San Diego - Fishing News
Britney Spears flashes her hot tuna to the paparazzi resulting in an eruption of flashbulbs and barfing - MarlinBlog
Of course, there'll probably be a smattering of cross-pollination between the two, like when my beloved Florida Marlins sweep a series or something. I guess the only wise solution is to read them both!
Let the fun begin ...
