10/30/2007: "RIP Robert Goulet"
We received late word here at the Home Office that Robert Goulet died today. It had been announced over the weekend that he was in need of a lung transplant, and apparently he died before one could be found. Goulet was a star in his native Canada before be became famous to Americans as Lancelot in the Broadway production of Camelot. You needed gravitas and talent to go toe to toe with Richard Burton in his prime, and Bob Goulet had both. He was one of those rare individuals who could appear almost ridiculously cool and make you believe, and yet poke fun at his own image without ruining that belief. He was 73, and he will be missed.
