10/30/2007: "Yankee Storm Sucks Up Grady Little"
The circus that is the New York Yankees claimed another victim today as Dodgers manager Grady Little resigned suddenly, citing "personal reasons". I think he was personally disgusted at the club's blatant attempt to lure first Joe Girardi and then Joe Torre to take what was at that point still Little's job. Girardi opted instead to sign a 3 year, $6 million contract to replace Torre with the Yankees, leaving Torre without a job and the Dodgers without a skipper. Certainly, Torre would be a great add for the Dodgers, assuming that the tightwads who own the club will pony up the dough. The really interesting rumor is that perhaps A-Rod would follow Joe from the Bronx to the Ravine. Again, can't imagine the McCourts laying out that kind of cash, but it does make for a damned interesting scenario. In the meantime, I feel for Little, who got screwed in the deal. He'll show his class in the quiet manner he simply accepts his fate, however.
Stay tuned ...
