The Field of Dreams has been a big part of my life. It's three miles away from my home and shop. I've produced a documentary about the baseball players from the movie called "Ghost Player Relive the Magic" and published a book called "Travels with Ghosts and Other Tales"
The field allowed me a second chance to live my dreams from long ago.
Dreams can come true. Hope all the best for this wonderful piece of Americana.

as chance would have it, there was a TV program(me) here on "Luna" the 'wild' orca that spent 4 years hanging around people and boats off Vancouver island, before coming to an unfortunate end in a tugboat's propellers.
No-one really knew why it was so interested in humans, though the commonest guess was that it missed the social interaction of its pod and would desperately try to 'make friends' with any apparently-intelligent large-enough entity.

If social bonds matter that much to all Orcas, then having any one individual alone (in any size of aquarium) seems more cruel than having a human trainer . . . . . but are humans willing to take the risk of continuing to be 'friends' ?
Elephant keepers continue to do so, despite knowing all it will take is a day of a "really bad mood" that they underestimate to result in their being crushed.

Also it may not necessarily be a solution to bring captive orcas together for company - how do you tell if they are getting on or rather just about tolerating each other, and what is the minimum size of family to be acceptable to them ?

Perhaps they are hoping to tempt Danica Patrick away from IndyCar ? Don't think she'd go for a color, if that's what they're up to.

well I notice the aircraft is listed for sale WITHOUT ENGINES.

do you reckon anybody .... ? ..... Nah ! they'd have been too damaged and anyway would you have to use the reverse thrust buckets to go astern, when backing down on that marlin ?

Just a couple of days ago I saw an article which took Obama to task for *not* rushing through the main Healthcare Reform plans as hard and fast as he can - without trying to bring (some of) the opposition with him.

As I gathered it, the writer was saying that by trying to be bipartisan and 'inclusive' instead of railroading-thru something that would please most of the Democrats (and not upset most of the others enough to vote against) while he still could he missed his chance to fulfill his election pledges.

I wonder if Stan is right, that other writer is right, or if there was no way any H.R. plan worth the houses' time could have been passed anyway - ever ?

Meanwhile, over on another fishing site (naming no names, but it is based in the North East) the moderators, unashamedly Republican, are pointing out all the things Obama can't do, hasn't done and (in their opinion) should not do. They're not (quite) "crowing" about it but are very clear in their hatred of all things "liberal" (or should that be "Liberal" ?) and Democrat.

It's reasoned hatred (not blind hate) but still comes across as hate supported by 'facts' and opinions.....rather than 'facts' and opinions leading to a strong view.
